Greater Naples Area Planned Giving Council meetings are generally offered monthly from 8:30 am – 10:00 am. The meetings feature networking time, breakfast, and a program/presentation. The Holiday meeting and special events such as the Annual Planned Giving Symposium are held at other times.
Programs are free for current members and $20.00 for nonmembers or $35 when held at Hodges University.
Registrants who fail to attend the program will be billed the cost of the provided lunch: $20.00 or $35.00.

How to Talk to Donors about Endowment

About the Speaker:
Ms. Miree is a past president of the national Committee on Planned Giving, past president of the Alabama Planned Giving council, past president of the Estate Planning Council of Birmingham, and past president of the Alabama Bankers Association Trust Division. She is a member of the Alabama Bar Association.
She is the president and primary consultant for Kathryn W. Miree & Associates, Inc., now in its 17th year of operation. Ms. Miree provides a full range of planned giving, endowment, and foundation management services designed to help nonprofits build long-term financial stability through planned gifts and endowment. Ms. Miree received a B.A. from Emory University and a J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law. She spent 15 years in various positions in the Trust Division of a large southeastern bank before joining a regional brokerage firm to establish its trust company and serve as its initial President and CEO. In these positions she worked extensively with not-for-profit organizations and their donors in the management of private foundations, community foundations, charitable trusts, pooled income funds, gift annuities and endowments.
About the Program
Fundraisers and volunteers have a natural fear of talking to donors and prospects about endowment. Sometimes it is the fear of opening the conversations, sometimes it is the fear of making the ask, and sometimes it is lack of knowledge of how to best structure the gift. This practical session will help you overcome those fears to have conversations that will increase your community foundation’s long-term (and even short-term) revenue. You will learn how to:
- Identify your best prospects for long-term gifts to your nonprofit,
- Engage donors to discuss their charitable visions,
- Translate what you hear – concerns and limitations – into gift opportunities,
- Follow through to close the gift, and
- Expand the relationship through ongoing conversation and stewardship.
This session is valuable for CEOs, volunteers, and all development staff.
